Unknown_Creek
Unknown_Creek is a dynamic, sculptural photographic work displayed on a horizontal surface and viewed from above. The larger cavity contains a cyanotype print toned with the cherry wood itself, while a year-long solar print actively exposes on the bare cherry wood in the base of the small recess. The voids in the domestic species’ surface engage with the ideas of extraction while the obscured images give the impression of seeing through water, reflecting the content: a destructive storm turning roads into impassable waterways due to climate change. Deep concerns for the environment are manifested through the use of ephemeral and susceptible processes as the solar print will inevitably disappear post exposure.
